The Remember Officer Noah Foundation
Noah Jacob Shahnavaz was born to be a police officer. Soon after graduating from high school in 2016, Noah joined the United States Army as an MP (Military Police). Noah proudly served his country in the Army for five years, earning his Air Assault badge and the rank of sergeant. He returned to Indiana, where he pursued his lifelong goal of becoming a civilian law enforcement officer. He was quickly hired by the Elwood Police Department in August 2021. He graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in April 2022 and returned to serve the Elwood community. Noah was well respected by his peers and the leadership of the Elwood Police Department, as well as the citizens of Elwood. During the early morning hours of July 31, 2022, Noah was senselessly shot and killed in the line of duty during a traffic stop. He was only 24 years old and had served the Elwood community for eleven short months. We will honor Noah’s legacy of heroism, sacrifice, and service to others by moving forward, doing hard things, and always striving to make the world a better place.
